Honda CB160/175 sloper Cappellini Moto #170 gear drive oil pump conversion kit
Honda CB160/175 sloper Cappellini Moto #170 gear drive oil pump conversion kit. Requires some machine work to install. DOES NOT FIT CB175 “vertical” engines, which have a completely different set of cases and oil pump! You remove one of the double gears and the oil pump piston from the back of the clutch basket, then drill and tap 6mm holes to install the new spacer in place of one gear, as shown in the photos. You machine a flat spot about 15.5mm deep into your original cases, as shown in the photos (not a critical measurement, as you need only remove only enough material so that the new pump does not make contact with the inside of the primary cover) only to provide a solid mounting point for the new pump (one original oil pump mounting point will be removed). Make sure that the pin retaining the sheet metal crankshaft oil shield does not extend too far out into the area of the oil pump. Note the o-ring added to the case mount (indicated by the pointer in the photo) only to prevent possible metal to metal vibration with the new pump. You must choose either the small oil sump under the engine, or the large one that carries more oil, and both use the original sump plate cover mounting points. Your original oil pump, cover plate, and centrifical oil sludge “filter” will be removed and discarded. You must also choose a new round cover for your original primary case. There is a plain cover #171 if you are going to use an external oil filter and/or oil cooler (like the one that Franco sells, or one of your own design), or the external oil lines that feed Franco’s billet cam supports. You can also choose the cartridge oil filter kit #172 to be used in place of the original cover, but this does not allow for any external oil lines to the cam supports or oil cooler. You must also specify which size of drive sprocket for the pump matches your crankshaft: with EITHER 4mm splines for the 160cc crankshaft or 5mm splines for the 175cc on YOUR crankshaft. The silver tube attached with an allen screw next to the drive gear is available in TWO DIFFERENT LENGTHS. The short one (shown in photos) is 30mm long and is used on combinations of gear drive pump, filter in cases, but not Franco’s oil cooler with oil filter inside. The long one is 56mm long and is used used on combinations of gear drive pump and case cover without filter, plus Franco’s oil cooler with filter inside. Add me to your Favorite Sellers.
